Yashiro Media Center

The Media Center has three floors creating an open and relaxed atmosphere. All fiction books are located on the bottom floor and non-fiction is located on the top-floor. The Dewey Decimal System is used.

The Yashiro Media Center is open from 7:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Our Media Center contains approximately 20,000 books. Approximately two-thirds of our collection is in English and a third of the books are in Japanese. There is also a variety of reference materials, tapes, CDS, and access to Newsbank. Our Media Center is equipped with two portable laptop wagons, giving students access to the internet.

Students visit the Media Center regularly to borrow books. They also carry out research tasks, website evaluation and book sharing. Students are encouraged to use both English and Japanese when visiting the Media Center. The Media Center is opened before school and after school for students to use for reading, researching and completing homework.

Our Media Center is always a happy and friendly place for students, staff and parents.
