STUDENT MIX

Over 450 students, representing 33 countries, attend Nishimachi. Two-hundred and fourteen (214) of our students hold dual or multiple citizenships. Two-hundred and fifty-six (256) students hold U.S. citizenship and two-hundred and sixty-six (266) Japanese. Many students are bilingual.
Nishimachi is committed to a diverse student body. At each grade level, we try to achieve a balance between boys and girls, between native speakers of English and speakers of Japanese, and among nationalities.
Returnees
Nishimachi accommodates the academic and cultural needs of students returning to Japan and currently has over 23 such children enrolled, with the number increasing yearly. Each child is different in terms of his or her needs, and each family must decide which school best suits those needs. Returnees are accepted at Nishimachi according to normal admissions criteria, with consideration given to individual needs in the area of the Japanese language.
