The Class of 2016

Every year, we have a devoted coterie of personable grade 9 students who bring to our school a plethora of skills and talents buoyed by boundless energy and a strong sense of community spirit. It would not be an exaggeration to state categorically that we were truly blessed by the students in the class of 2016, and the devotion and creativity and sheer joy with which these fifteen fine young people went about their learning was infectious and uplifting. They set strong examples in their personal comportment, and showed leadership through example, and it can be said genuinely that the school was a better place because of their presence. I am sure that I speak for all advisors and teachers when I say that it was a great pleasure to be connected to this fantastic class. Theirs is a legacy not soon to be forgotten.

But, of course, these students must move on from Nishimachi, and we are certain that they will quickly stamp their positivity on their new schools. Sixty-three percent of the graduates from this class will be entering international high schools in the Tokyo prefecture in several weeks' time. Five will join Yokohama International School, three the American School in Japan, and two St. Mary's School. We sincerely hope that their close proximity to their alma mater will encourage them to visit regularly - perhaps for this year's Food Fair in October? Of the remaining five students, two will join boarding schools on the eastern seaboard of the United States, and thee will attend schools in Germany, England and the United States. We wish them all a very heart-felt "Adieu!" and the very best of luck in their future academic career.
