On Saturday, October 28th, the Middle School Cross Country Team went to Tama Hills for their final race of the season. The students worked incredibly hard throughout the season, diligently showing up and running with passion at practice early in the morning everyday.
Just like during the practices, they ran with courage and determination for the last race! With its multiple hills and rocky surface, the 3.3 km long Tama Hills course is challenging. I always wait for the students at top of what we call "The Killer Hill" – an appropriately-named, extremely slippery, steep and long hill somewhat near the finish line. Seeing the incredible effort in the students' eyes always reminds me just how special they truly are. As always, everyone did his/her best and three of our runners achieved personal records. Furthermore, in a crowd of 99 girls from six international schools, two of our runners finished 2nd and 3rd respectively! Their spirit and sportsmanship far exceeded the diminutive size of our team!
Several parents came along to support us, which was much appreciated. I would like to sincerely thank all "my" runners for a wonderful and rewarding season! In addition, a special thank you goes out to Mrs. Renfroe who was instrumental in making sure that our meets ran smoothly. Thank you!
