The Grade 9 students enjoyed a successful four-day trip to Hiroshima, Nara and Kyoto last week. This trip asks the students to take on greater responsibility by planning daily group activities with an itinerary, choosing restaurants for lunch, and budgeting their activities and meals. We also enjoyed several group experiences. This included visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial museums and park; listening to a first hand account of the Hiroshima bombing from a survivor; experiencing Zazen and a tea ceremony at Daitokuji Zuihouin; painting Kyo-sensu (fans); visiting Kiyomizu temple; making Wagashi at Kanshundo Honten; and enjoying delicious dinners together. Many thanks to the students and accompanying teachers for making this such a memorable trip!
